Matthew Celia

Matthew Celia is a 2025 Emmy Award winning chief creative director and co-founder of Light Sail VR. He is a leading voice in immersive cinema whose work focuses on bringing cinematic storytelling into virtual reality.
Over the past decade, Matt has guided Light Sail VR in producing more than 200 immersive films for partners that include Meta, Google, Canon, and studio teams worldwide.
Matt draws on early experience at Warner Bros. and years of hands-on production and post-production work to shape immersive moments with emotional weight. His craft defines Light Sail VR as an immersive studio that builds each project around story and presence.
He earned his BFA in film production with honors from Chapman University.
Robert Watts
CO-FOUNDER | EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Robert Watts is a 2025 Emmy Award winning executive producer and co-founder of Light Sail VR. He is a leading figure in immersive entertainment who brings a steady production voice to the growth of virtual reality storytelling.
Over the past decade, Robert has guided Light Sail VR in producing more than 200 immersive films for partners that include Meta, Google, Canon, and studio teams worldwide.
Robert turns ideas into production reality and manages complex shoots with careful coordination across talent and crew. His work anchors Light Sail VR as a dependable immersive studio for high-profile projects for distributors, brands and agencies.
He earned his BFA in film production with honors from Chapman University.
Kara Lancaster
Head of Post
Kara Lancaster is a multidisciplinary filmmaker who has performed just about every job there is in film production. She's traveled the world many times over filming documentaries, touring with bands, capturing live performances, and directing music videos. Her immersive work, in partnership with Light Sail VR and Meta, has been nominated for three Creative Arts Emmys and includes a roster of Saturday Night Live, Foo Fighters, Shawn Mendes, Sabrina Carpenter, Tiesto, Arcade Fire, and dozens of others. With past stints at The Planetary Society (in collaboration with Bill Nye) and the San Francisco Symphony, she has found a perfect home in the immersive film world where her curiosities about emerging technology and her passion for live performance and entertainment can come together to connect people with unique experiences.
Dirk Wallace
Director | Live Events
With over 25 years of video production experience, Dirk entered the VR/360 world in 2015, focusing on documentary style live-action captures and immersive broadcast livestreams. With a background in live network television, including MTV, and a decade directing concerts and livestreamed events in Asia, he offers a diverse skill set to Light Sail VR. Dirk is also enthusiastic about harnessing VR’s potential in education and prisoner rehabilitation, believing in its transformative power.
Josh Helfferich
Art Director
Josh brings extensive creative vision and deep expertise in art direction, design, and motion graphics, along with a diverse post-production background that spans over fourteen years. Originally from Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, he has built his career in Los Angeles as an art director and visual effects artist, contributing to high-profile projects for Amazon Studios, Meta, Saturday Night Live, Lionsgate, Adidas, Ford, Foo Fighters, and more. Since joining Light Sail in 2020, Josh has taken the helm in shaping the studio’s visual identity, ensuring that every project is not only polished and technically sound, but also visually stunning. His passion for storytelling and detail-driven approach have made him an essential force behind Light Sail’s most compelling work.
Anthony Morales
Information Technology Manager
With over 15 years of experience in IT, Anthony has built, managed, and supported technology across a wide range of environments, developing a deep understanding of the infrastructure and systems that keep modern businesses running. Throughout his career, he has been driven by a commitment to staying at the forefront of emerging technologies, expanding his work into application development, automation, and AI-driven solutions.
At Light Sail, he brings that experience into the immersive media and production space, supporting the technology behind VR production, high-speed networking, large-scale storage, and demanding post-production workflows. His hands-on approach and adaptability have made him a versatile problem-solver, always looking for ways to improve systems and support the teams that rely on them.
Andy Rabago
Assistant to the Creative Director
Andy Rabago is a creative with a background in media production and a master's degree in Television Production Management from Boston University. As Assistant to the Creative Director at Light Sail VR, he supports both the creative process and day-to-day production workflows across immersive projects. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Andy is driven by a deep curiosity and a commitment to learning every corner of the entertainment industry. He brings adaptability, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to every project.
